INTRODUCTION
Department of Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), IBADAT International University Islamabad is one of the most vibrant departments, holding qualified PhD faculty members, with running sub-disciplines including Microbiology. Our faculty members hold a PhD degree with diverse research and teaching experience. The microbiology laboratory is equipped with all the necessary equipment. Many of the research activities being carried out in the lab are in collaboration with national and international technologically advanced institutions.
The Microbiology PhD Program is an advanced training and research program that is designed to provide students with broad exposure to modern areas of microbiology and depth in the chosen area of thesis work. The students admitted to the program will join a vibrant, thriving microbiology community on the campus and will receive training in a broad range of areas in microbiology. Scholars admitted to the Microbiology Ph.D degree program will have to fulfill HEC criteria to award the degree.

Entry Requirements: The admissions will be offered to students having 18 years of education in a relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0 in the semester system) or 60% marks in the Annual system. Candidate has to pass the admission test developed and conducted by the university equivalent to GRE/HAT General, with the passing score 60%. OR a test equivalent to GRE/HAT General, conducted by testing bodies accrediated by HEC, with a passing score of 60%.
CAREER PROSPECTUS
- There is a vast scope of PhD degrees in Microbiology due to advancements in science and technology and the emergence of new industries. Microbiology graduates enter various areas such as research and development, healthcare, pharmaceutical industry, food and dairy industry, apart from teaching at institutions of higher secondary education. They may also take up post-doctorate to continue their academic research. Further, many of the Microbiology graduates are also successfully running their diagnostic labs.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
- To train scholars on advanced topics of life sciences in Medical and General Microbiology in particular.
- To prepare Ph.D. scholars for high-quality and innovative research by providing them with continuous guidance and technical training.
- To conduct dedicated research to solve the important issues of health, environment, food, and agricultural sciences as well as the development of products of industrial importance.
